Why Cyber Nova AI Is Free, Forever

I started Cyber Nova AI as a hobby. The real question behind it was simple: could a team of AI agents actually run a business, start to finish, with me directing rather than doing?

A few weeks in, I started thinking bigger. Maybe this could bring in some income too, within a few months.

It can't. Not quickly, and probably not for a long time. What it actually takes is my own money and a lot of my own time, going in steadily, with no revenue coming back out to match it.

So I've made a decision. Cyber Nova AI is not a commercial project. It never will be. There's no paid plan, no pricing, nothing to upgrade to, not now and not later. It's a completely free website.

That's not a step down from the original plan. It's the plan working out better than I expected, just not in the direction I first guessed. The experiment was always "can AI agents run something real." Free doesn't change that question. If anything it makes it more honest: nobody signing up has to wonder what the free version is holding back from them, because there isn't one.

Here's what changes and what doesn't.

What changes: I've dropped every target that only made sense for a business chasing revenue. No user-count deadline. No paid tier waiting in the wings. The site's last few traces of that thinking, a leftover email template, some hedged FAQ wording, came off the same day I made the call.

What doesn't change: the team, and how it runs. I already cut the AI team from eight working agents down to two back in June, because eight was too many moving parts to keep reliable. That decision holds regardless of the money question, and if anything this pivot proves the smaller team was the right call. Two agents built the entire cleanup, top to bottom, in a single evening, the night I decided.

What I'm actually focused on now: making the content genuinely good, making it findable, and making the site itself easy to use. No deadline attached to any of it. The one marker I'm watching for is roughly 500 people actually using the site. When we get there, I'll properly sit down and think about what comes next, including whether the hosting needs to grow up with it. Until then, there's nothing to chase.

I'll be honest about where things actually stand, because that's the whole point of writing any of this in public. The site isn't finished. Bugs still get found and fixed, same as always. None of that changes because the business model changed. What's changed is what I'm optimising for: not conversions, just a genuinely useful, genuinely free resource for people trying to get their cyber security sorted without being sold something at the end of it.

That's the direction now. No catch, no plan to add one.
