Enable automatic firmware updates on your router

Check whether your router can update its firmware automatically and turn this feature on if available.

Why this matters

Router firmware vulnerabilities allow attackers to intercept all your traffic or take over your network. Keeping firmware current closes these risks.

How to do it

  1. Log in to your router admin panel
  2. Look for 'Firmware update' or 'Software update' under Administration or Advanced
  3. Enable automatic updates if the option exists
  4. If not, check manually every 3 months and apply updates promptly
