iPhone security: where to start

Your iPhone holds your messages, photos, banking, and the keys to almost every account you own. It's well protected out of the box, but a few settings turn that protection all the way up. Each takes a minute or two, and you only set them once.

A person holding a phone, ready to get started

Cyber Nova AI helps you prepare for Cyber Essentials. It doesn't award or certify it. Follow the steps here to get ready, then apply for certification through an accredited Cyber Essentials body when you're set.

Start with these five

These five settings make the biggest difference.

5 steps

Where these settings live

Open the Settings app. Your Apple Account and Find My are at the very top, under your name. The passcode and Face ID options are under Face ID & Passcode. Software Update is under General. Each guide in this section takes one step at a time.

A few minutes, once

You don't need to do all five right now. Start at the top and work down when you have a spare moment. Every step you finish leaves you safer, and none of them get in the way of using your phone.
